The Zarcillo International Wine Awards return full force in 2025 to celebrate their highly anticipated 20th edition. The city of Ávila, in Castilla y León, will host the international tastings from May 27 to 29, culminating with a distinguished awards ceremony in Segovia. This edition reaffirms its commitment to boosting the international projection of the competition and consolidating its position as one of the most important references in the evaluation of high-quality wines.
Organized by the Agricultural Technology Institute of Castilla y León (ITACyL) and supported by the Government of Castilla y León, the awards are endorsed by the International Organisation of Vine and Wine (OIV) and the World Federation of Great International Wine and Spirits Competitions (VINOFED), maintaining their prestige as a must-attend event for wineries and wine experts from around the world.
Renewal and international push
The 2025 edition of the awards aims to expand its global reach even further. With over three decades of history, the Zarcillo International Wine Awards continue to be a key platform for promoting national wines while attracting entries from the world’s leading wine producers.
The jury will consist of renowned international experts, whose goal will be to evaluate the submitted samples with the utmost rigor and objectivity.
The samples will be assessed through blind tastings, following the rigorous criteria established by the OIV and VINOFED, ensuring maximum objectivity and excellence in each evaluation. The highest recognition, the Grand Gold Zarcillo , will top the list of awards, followed by the prestigious Gold Zarcillo and Silver Zarcillo.
This year, three special VINOFED awards will also be presented:
- VINOFED Award Category I for White Wines
- VINOFED Award Category II for Rosé Wines
- VINOFED Award Category III for Red Wines
These awards will be given to the highest-scoring wines in each category.
Additionally, two special mentions will be awarded: the Zarcillo International Wine Award Special Mention Castilla y León, which will recognize the wine from this region with the highest score, and the Zarcillo International Wine Award Organic Wine, designated for the highest-rated organic wine.
